The Cimorelli

This past few weeks, I got addicted with the Cimorelli band. This band is composed of 6 sisters namely Christina (19), Katherine (18), Lisa (16), Amy 15, Lauren (11) and Dani (10) and all of them can sing! I discovered them when I was scanning different covers of the song "Dynamite by Taio Cruz" in YouTube. I first heard them sang this song in acapella and I actually loved it. They also sing songs by Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Jackson 5, etc.

They don't just sing. They also play instruments like keyboard, drums, bass and rhythm guitar. They also came from a big family. They are 11 children in the family 6 girls and 5 boys. Even their brothers has beautiful voices too.

The boy in the photo is their oldest brother Mike who's also a part of the band.

They also joined the church's choir and they also perform musical theater.

MATH+BIO+JOURN= :l :/ :(

Tomorrow is the first day of our 2nd quarter examinations. The subjects that we need to get are Math, Biology (Science) and Journalism. Math and Bio are two major subjects and Journalism is a minor subject. But even though Journ is a minor subject it can be also confusing like Math and Bio. Math II is easier compared to Bio. All you need is to analyze and memorize the equations on how to get the answer. Biology, on the other hand, is very confusing. All you need for you to answer is to focus, analyze and understand the lessons so you won't have a hard time in answering the questions. Journalism involves news and current events so I need to be aware of what's going on everywhere today. Also, you need to know the terms that is needed in writing a news. If all of these would happen in just 5-6 hours, I don't know what would happen to me.

So I hope, tomorrow, my mind wouldn't make things mixed up. I hope that in time that I will answer the questions I can answer it without making a guess.

I always keep in my mind that I CAN DO THIS! :))
(Even if I can't fully understand the lessons in Bio. ) :(

Talumpati.

For our 2nd quarter project in CAF (Filipino) we have to memorize a talumpati or speech which should be 3-5 minute long. Most of my classmates searched their talumpatis over the internet that's why when they presented in front of everyone it's just like a repeat. But mine is written by me that's why I did not have a hard time memorizing it and I different talumpati from the others. My talumpati is about nature.

Here's it is.

Hope you've learned something from it. :))

I Love StreetDance!!

StreetDance is one of my favorite dance film. It is different from the other movies that I've watched because it is British. I really enjoyed it because I love watching dance flicks and I watched it together with my loved ones.
Here's the plot.

In inner city London, a street dance crew is on the verge of breaking up after its leader, Jay, leaves the group unexpectedly. The group loses the use of their rehearsal space, forcing them to try and raise money or practice in other locations. Eventually they secure a space in a ballet school, on the condition that they include five ballet dancers in their routine. At first, they struggle to get along, but they all become friends in the end.

One of the teachers at the ballet school, Helena, takes Carly to a ballet where she starts getting ideas for their routine. When she arrives home, Carly finds Jay waiting for her and the two spend the night together. During a dance battle in a club the next night, the team learn that Jay has betrayed the team by joining The Surge, a rival crew. Jay brags about his sex with Carly and Tomas, a ballet dancer, punches Jay out of anger. Jay is furious and swears revenge. Carly, upset over the betrayal, leaves the club and is nearly hit by a car before Tomas pulls her out of the way. Tomas then takes Carly back to his apartment where they dance on the roof, eventually kissing. Carly then leaves him alone on the roof, while they both look at the sunrise and smile.

The next day at the school, Carly announces the new name of their dance crew: Breakin Pointe. Another teacher at the school, outraged that her students are being corrupted, deliberately plans a Royal Ballet audition for the same day as the street dance finals. The Ballet dancers promise Carly they will make it but the auditions were running overtime.

In an attempt to give Breakin Pointe more time to wait for the ballet dancers, Carly's friend Eddie (George Sampson) goes out onto the dance floor and starts dancing, surprising the crew. The ballet team turn up at the final anyway, and their teacher Helena drives the judges to the final so they can see the dancers perform. The routine is a success, Carly and Tomas kiss after the performance, and the crowd is enthralled. Jay is furious that the Surge have been beaten and he's lost Carly.

The film ends with Breakin Pointe and Surge dancing to N-Dubz' "We Dance On".

Talkin' About Our Play.

This past few weeks we've been already planning for our play presentation in CAE and CAF which will be perfomed by us on the first week of December. Sophomores are expected to present Florante at Laura for CAF play. Our section, II-St. Catherine, got the first part of the story where Florante was still a child.

For our CAE play, we are expected showcase the different cultures in Asia. Our class have decided to play Anastasia. It is a story of a Romanov family was struck by revolution on 1916, and cursed to be utterly wiped out by the vengeful sorcerer Rasputin, ex-advisor to the Tsar. The only survivors were the Dowager and her youngest granddaughter, Anastasia, but the two were separated during their escape from the palace - suffering a hard knock on the head, Anastasia loses her memory, and is taken to an orphanage with nothing but a strange necklace and the name Anya. When she is 18, "Anya" leaves the orphanage and wants to seeks her true identity in Paris. She is told that a man who resides in the old palace can help her, but when there, the man Dimitri and his friend Vladimir, who are con men, realize that Anya bears a striking resemblance to Anastasia, and decide to take her to Paris and pass her off as the princess so they can get their hands on the reward that the Dowager is offering for the finding of her granddaughter. However, Rasputin has discovered the true identity of this poor orphan girl, and wont rest until he has the head of this last Romanov, and his revenge on the family is complete. (Written by Aaliya)

We already know what to do in our plays because of their plots but our major problem are the characters who'll give life to them.

The Invasion!

I can see them ANYWHERE.
I can hear them EVERYWHERE.
People around me can't get enough with THEM.

Super Juniors, Shinee, and more. These are the popular K-Pop or Korean Pop here in the Philippines. Honestly, I don't know them I've just heard their songs. Koreanovelas are also famous here in our country namely Boys Over Flowers, Full House, He's Beautiful and more. Even their hairstyles and clothes are being followed.

Our culture is now affected by foreigners like Chinese and Americans but most especially the Koreans. That's why more and more Filipinos doesn't show support in our culture instead they show their support to other cultures by following them in the means of clothing and etc. Also, Filipinos nowadays don't speak in our native tongue already but now more Filipinos speak in other language. Filipinos also shows support to other cultures when they buy their things there.

Why are Filipinos like this? Why don't we possess true nationalism for our country?
Be nationalistic. Support our culture for the progress and betterment of country and of the world.

Waiting For 30 Minutes is WORTH IT :)

Last August 13, 2010, I watched the Grand Velada Matinee Show together with my friends. But before that we faced the challenge. At first, we were informed that the tickets for the Grand Velada was already sold out that's why we're a bit sad because we thought we might not able to watch it. But on that day, we asked Ms. Adrias if there's really no tickets left. Then she told us that there are still tickets for the Matinee Show at 3 pm. So we ran to the Information to buy tickets but the one who sells it is not yet there so we waited for 30 minutes without eating our lunch. When it's almost 12:35 she arrived and our lunch time is almost over. After we buy our tickets, we ran going to our classroom so we won't be late. We reached our classroom catching our breaths. We just watched Nanny McPhee for our first two periods in the afternoon because those who will watch the Velada will be off at 2:30 pm. We also enjoyed the movie.

At 2:30 pm, all of those who will watched the Velada are off. Most of us went directly to St. Anne's Hall to find a good place at the mezzanine. All of us were very excited to watch the alumnae and our schoolmates present their numbers on the stage. The show started past 3 pm. The alumnae and alumni presents their numbers through dancing and singing. It's very amusing because they reflect the trends in their time through their costumes and numbers. I was surprised when I saw the old girls danced gracefully even though they're in their 70's and 80's. The show is just 3 hours and in that span of time I enjoyed much.

That's why waiting for 30 minutes is very WORTH IT.

Rain Can't Stop The Fun! :)))

Yesterday, we had the AC Centennial Fair. Many alumnae, friends of the Assumption and even public officials attended in our celebration. Even though it rained so hard, it didn't stop the fun. My friends and I chased one another while there's still rain. We didn't care if all of us got wet. We didn't care if we get sick because it is the day where all of us are suppose to be enjoying.

with my St. Catherine classmates and Mr. Guintivano, our class adviser
at the Photo Booth cared of Paloma Photography

with Mr. Guintivano and Ariana at the Carousel ride

There are a lot of booths such as Photo Booth, Horror Booth, Jail Booth and many more. There are also rides such as the Ferris Wheel and the Carousel. Also, there are games which was played by the learners and the alumnae. They still put up the bazaar near the preschool and the grades 1,2 and 3 building. In there, the alumnae sold different kind of foods, tees, bags, shoes and accessories. They also had film showing which was Coraline and Where The Wild Things Are. My friends and I also visited the Assumption museum. In there, we saw the previous uniforms of the learners of AC. We saw many pictures and things which is a remembrance from the past. When it's already around 6 pm, the Cross Over Band starts to play. I didn't stay the whole night just to watch the band. But I went home very happy and I'll really treasure this event in my whole life.

In our St. Catherine classroom with my friends, classmates and Mr. Guintivano

Hope that this event will happen every year. :))

Bro. Alvin Barcelona and the Himaya Band!

What happened in our school yesterday was very fun and unforgettable! We watched the concert of Bro. Alvin Barcelona and the Himaya Band. I really thought that they will just sing songs that will make us relax since I thought that they will sing praises and worships songs. But I was wrong. Yes, they sang praises and worship songs but not only that they also sang modern rock songs. So I was starstruck when I first heard them sing "Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day" in the opening number. They also sang Tagalog rock songs like Sandalan and Hallelujah. They made the Assumption learners wild!

But it's not just all about singing and dancing. They also tell us short stories about themselves and other. The stories about them, Susan Boyle and the Man without Limbs inspires me to believe and dream on. :)

That's why I'm very grateful that I watched the concert instead of going home and sleep because it was all worth it!

Journalism Workshop :)

Last Saturday and Sunday (July 31-Aug.1,2010), we had our Journalism Workshop at Iloilo National High School. We competed with different schools private and public.

We ranked in 3rd place. While Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School placed 2nd and Ateneo won the 1st place.

I joined News Writing, Editorial Writing, Copyreading and Editorial Cartooning all in Filipino category except in Cartooning. I just joined Cartooning for fun because I honestly don't know how to draw. But in all events that I've joined, I won runner-up in Editorial Cartooning and I was very surprised!

So...CONGRATULATIONS AC Learners who joined Journalism Workshop even though we still have our quarter exam this week..! <3

xoxo, Gossip Girl

My fave tv movie series is Gossip Girl!! I already watched three past seasons of this and I can't wait to watch the fourth one.

I love these two main characters in Gossip Girl, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester). Although they always fight in the end they're still best friends.

The Clique

"The Clique"

I watched a movie of this but I am not contented from what I've seen and heard from the flick so I read the books.

The Clique series is my most favorite book that I've read. I like it because it talks about our life as a teenager. It's also a guide for us to become a better friend to our friends because it deals with cliques and friendship.

P.S.
I am really thankful to have Jica Simpas and Alice Kanaan as my close friends because they are the ones who let me borrow their
collection of books and even gave me one of it.. :))

T.G.I.S.!!!

Thank God It's Saturday!!

Last Saturday, I had my first leadership training. We interacted with our fellow class officers. We played games and shared our insights with the higher years and the first year. We also listened to our speaker. After sharing and listening, we had our recess and I can call it the best recess because I ate with all of my friends and we just took a lot of picture of us; cherishing every moment that we are together. Then we went up to the MDFT to hear the announcements of the projects of the LCBAs. I was very happy that Saturday because of what happened and I will never forget that moment in my life! :))

HI-TECH ASSIGNMENTS!!

As a learner, we are all required to do our assignments and homework. Although we have many assignments, we will not be having a hard time now because most of it are research works and we can even pass it online through e-mails! :D
