Waiting For 30 Minutes is WORTH IT :)

Last August 13, 2010, I watched the Grand Velada Matinee Show together with my friends. But before that we faced the challenge. At first, we were informed that the tickets for the Grand Velada was already sold out that's why we're a bit sad because we thought we might not able to watch it. But on that day, we asked Ms. Adrias if there's really no tickets left. Then she told us that there are still tickets for the Matinee Show at 3 pm. So we ran to the Information to buy tickets but the one who sells it is not yet there so we waited for 30 minutes without eating our lunch. When it's almost 12:35 she arrived and our lunch time is almost over. After we buy our tickets, we ran going to our classroom so we won't be late. We reached our classroom catching our breaths. We just watched Nanny McPhee for our first two periods in the afternoon because those who will watch the Velada will be off at 2:30 pm. We also enjoyed the movie.

At 2:30 pm, all of those who will watched the Velada are off. Most of us went directly to St. Anne's Hall to find a good place at the mezzanine. All of us were very excited to watch the alumnae and our schoolmates present their numbers on the stage. The show started past 3 pm. The alumnae and alumni presents their numbers through dancing and singing. It's very amusing because they reflect the trends in their time through their costumes and numbers. I was surprised when I saw the old girls danced gracefully even though they're in their 70's and 80's. The show is just 3 hours and in that span of time I enjoyed much.

That's why waiting for 30 minutes is very WORTH IT.

Rain Can't Stop The Fun! :)))

Yesterday, we had the AC Centennial Fair. Many alumnae, friends of the Assumption and even public officials attended in our celebration. Even though it rained so hard, it didn't stop the fun. My friends and I chased one another while there's still rain. We didn't care if all of us got wet. We didn't care if we get sick because it is the day where all of us are suppose to be enjoying.

with Mr. Guintivano and Ariana at the Carousel ride

There are a lot of booths such as Photo Booth, Horror Booth, Jail Booth and many more. There are also rides such as the Ferris Wheel and the Carousel. Also, there are games which was played by the learners and the alumnae. They still put up the bazaar near the preschool and the grades 1,2 and 3 building. In there, the alumnae sold different kind of foods, tees, bags, shoes and accessories. They also had film showing which was Coraline and Where The Wild Things Are. My friends and I also visited the Assumption museum. In there, we saw the previous uniforms of the learners of AC. We saw many pictures and things which is a remembrance from the past. When it's already around 6 pm, the Cross Over Band starts to play. I didn't stay the whole night just to watch the band. But I went home very happy and I'll really treasure this event in my whole life.

Bro. Alvin Barcelona and the Himaya Band!

What happened in our school yesterday was very fun and unforgettable! We watched the concert of Bro. Alvin Barcelona and the Himaya Band. I really thought that they will just sing songs that will make us relax since I thought that they will sing praises and worships songs. But I was wrong. Yes, they sang praises and worship songs but not only that they also sang modern rock songs. So I was starstruck when I first heard them sing "Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day" in the opening number. They also sang Tagalog rock songs like Sandalan and Hallelujah. They made the Assumption learners wild!

But it's not just all about singing and dancing. They also tell us short stories about themselves and other. The stories about them, Susan Boyle and the Man without Limbs inspires me to believe and dream on. :)

That's why I'm very grateful that I watched the concert instead of going home and sleep because it was all worth it!

Journalism Workshop :)

Last Saturday and Sunday (July 31-Aug.1,2010), we had our Journalism Workshop at Iloilo National High School. We competed with different schools private and public.

We ranked in 3rd place. While Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School placed 2nd and Ateneo won the 1st place.

I joined News Writing, Editorial Writing, Copyreading and Editorial Cartooning all in Filipino category except in Cartooning. I just joined Cartooning for fun because I honestly don't know how to draw. But in all events that I've joined, I won runner-up in Editorial Cartooning and I was very surprised!

So...CONGRATULATIONS AC Learners who joined Journalism Workshop even though we still have our quarter exam this week..! <3
